This Privacy Policy explains how H4ckTh3W0rld ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the H4ckTh3W0rld Android application and website at h4ckth3w0rld.com ("the Service").
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect the following information when you use the Service:
- Account data: Your chosen username (handle) and email address when you register.
- Location data: Your GPS coordinates while the app is open and in use, to place WiFi access points on the map and validate captures. Location is not stored continuously — only your last known position is retained.
- WiFi scan data: The SSIDs and BSSIDs (network names and hardware identifiers) of WiFi networks detected by your device during a scan. We do not collect passwords, network content, or any data transmitted over those networks.
- Gameplay data: Your score, captures, level, and in-app purchases.
- Beta signup data: Email address, optional name, and optional device model if you sign up for beta access.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
- To operate the game — placing access points on the map, validating captures, maintaining the leaderboard.
- To communicate with you about beta access or important service updates.
- To improve the Service and diagnose technical issues.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. WIFI SCANNING
H4ckTh3W0rld scans for nearby WiFi networks using your device's hardware. This is used solely to generate the in-game map of access points. We collect only the network name (SSID) and hardware identifier (BSSID) — not signal content, passwords, or any transmitted data. This is equivalent to what any device displays in its WiFi settings screen.
On Android, WiFi scanning requires the ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION permission as mandated by the operating system. We use this permission only for the WiFi scan feature and GPS positioning within the app.
4. DATA RETENTION
- Account and gameplay data is retained for as long as your account is active.
- Access point records may be automatically removed if not seen within 30 days.
- Beta signup emails are retained until beta testing concludes or you request removal.
5. YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Withdraw from the beta programme at any time.

6. SECURITY
All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS. Passwords are not stored — authentication uses secure tokens. We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, though no system is completely immune to risk.
7. CHILDREN
The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
